If you or someone you know would like to play softball but needs financial assistance, please reach out to us! We want every girl in our community to have the opportunity to play if they are interested. Any families that currently receive Free or Reduced lunch through the school district are eligible for scholarships through both our program and CCGSA.
Additionally, we are working on donations and partnerships to help provide equipment to players in need.
Please email a copy of your Free/Reduced Lunch letter to hvsoftballreg@gmail.com and we will help get you started on the process!
Twice a week practices start the week after Spring Break. Historically they have been M/W or T/Th, with T-ball being the exception on T/Sat. The first week of May, the teams transition to games on those same days of the week. Weather make-ups may require games on alternate days. The season ends the 2nd weekend of June with our annual End of Season tournament.
There are many different levels and it is based on Age. For elementary through middle school the team-levels are T-ball (ages 5-7), 8u, 10u, 12u, and 14u. The "u" stands for under, so 14u is for ages 14-and-under. A player's age is determined by their age on Sept 1st of the Fall before the season. For example if your child turns 13 on January 2nd or later they can play on a 12u or older team but if they are 13 on or before January 1st they must play on a 14u or older team. Players can play up a level, but they cannot play on a team less than their age. For T-Ball, your player must turn 5 by May 1st to be allowed to play with HVSA.
Levels/Description:
T-Ball - Ages 5/6 learn the fundamentals of hitting and fielding.
8U - Ages 7/8 learn fundamental throwing, fielding, and hitting skills.
10U - Ages 9/10 are introduced to pitching, base running skills, bunting and team defensive play. Basic throwing, fielding, and hitting skills reinforced.
12U - Ages 11/12 are encouraged to develop pitching/catching skills. Team play emphasis on defense with consistent display of fielding basics.
14U - Ages 13/14 offers more advanced team play, offensive/defensive game strategies are taught and executed. Many players at this level may be advancing to high school play or playing for competitive travel teams.
